Steady Support Starts Here
Discover how our products restore steadiness, safety and independence for those living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Living With MND Challenges Every Movement
Over 450 people in Ireland are living with MND at any one time, and roughly 140 receive a new diagnosis each year. The progressive weakening of muscles can affect grip, arm strength, balance and even speech, turning simple kitchen rituals – like lifting a full kettle or steadying a hot cup – into tiring and potentially risky tasks. These daily hurdles can chip away at confidence and the sense of independence.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or adapting to changing abilities, thoughtfully designed tools – such as our easy tilt-to-pour kettle and non-slip accessories – will help keep you enjoying your favourite cuppa safely and on your own terms.
Designed With Weak Grip, Fatigue & Everyday Control
Uccello Kettle: The tilt-to-pour actions means there’s no need to lift a heavy kettle – perfect for weak grip, muscle fatigue or coordination issues. It helps bring back confidence when handling boiling water.
Uccello Grip Mat: This non-slip mat adds friction and stability, making it easier to open jars, grip utensils, or keep items in place when your hand strength or motor control is limited.
Muggi Cup Holder: Carrying a cup with shaky hands or weak arms can feel risky. Muggi’s cup holders each have a well to catch any drips and spills. It has non-slip feet and cup handle slots for extra security.
“I was losing my strength in my hands and arms – something as simple as pouring a cup of coffee became a real challenge.”
“This Kettle changed that. I don’t need to ask for help anymore and with the Muggi, I carry my own drinks again whether its in my hands or on a walker. It’s a bit of normality I really missed.” – Ger, Offaly

Frequently Asked Questions:
Motor Neurone Support
Can I use the Uccello Kettle if I have weak arms or poor grip?
Yes. The Uccello Kettle is designed to pour with a gently tilt – no need to lift, grip or balance a heavy kettle. It stays safely in place (thanks to its non-slip base) and helps you pour boiling water without strain or risk.
How does this help if I tire easily or my strength changes day to day?
MND can make everyday movements exhausting. Our kettle tilts with minimal effort, the Grip Mat holds items steady, and does a lot of the heavy lifting (opening stubborn jars/lids etc.) and the Muggi lets you carry drinks in one trip with fewer chances of spills.
These tools are designed to save energy and support independence – especially as symptoms change.
What's the safest way to fill the kettle if I have limited hand strength?
You have two options:
1. Remove the kettle body and fill it at the sink like a regular kettle (it’s lightweight when empty).
2. Leave it in the base and fill it with a cup or small jug — this way you never lift the kettle full of water.
What if I have shaky hands or unsteady arms - how do I pour without spilling?
There are two simple methods:
1. Place your cup about an inch away from the kettle base (handle facing the kettle). This gives a close, controlled target.
2.Use the Uccello Grip Mat. Place the mat against the kettle’s front feet and rest your cup in the smooth center ring. This helps guide your pour, no matter where the cup handle is.
Can I use all 3 products together if I need extra support?
Absolutely. Many people living with MND use the Uccello Kettle, Grip and Muggi together – for safe pouring, fewer spills and easier carrying.
They are also available as a bundle on our website for better value.
What if I need help or have questions later on?
We offer a 2-year warranty on both the Uccello Kettle and Grip Mat and a whopping 88-year warranty on the Muggi.
