Discover how our products support safety, ease, and independence for those living with low vision or vision impairment.

Living with Vision Impairment Changes How You Navigate the Everyday

In Ireland, over 296,000 people are living with some type of visual impairment – from reduced contrast sensitivity and tunnel vision to total blindness. Simple kitchen tasks like pouring hot water or carrying a full cup can become risky without the right support, especially when you’re replying on touch and muscle memory more than sight.

Whether you’re adjusting to new vision changes or have lived with sight loss for years, the right tools – like our easy pour kettle, non-slip mat, Muggi and Liquid Level Indicator – help you stay safe and confident in the kitchen.

No spills, no strain, just independence in every cup.

Designed for Safety, Simplicity & Confidence Without Sight

  • Uccello Kettle: The tilt-to-pour design means you don't need to lift or balance a hot kettle - just tilt gently. Itsstable base and smooth tilting motion make it easy to use by touch- ideal for those with low or no vision.

  • Liquid Level Indicator: Hook this genius device onto your cup, and it will beep and vibrate when the liquid nears the top - so you can pour hot drinks confidently, without fear or spills or burns.

  • Uccello Grip Mat: The perfect cup guide for those with vision impairment when using the Uccello Kettle. Sit it at the kettles front feet and feel for the smooth centre ring for a safe and steady pour every time.

  • Muggi Cup Holder: 4 deep wells that hold your cups securely, catching drips/spills and helping you carry multiple items safely with fewer trips. Non-slip feet as well as thumb grooves for a more comfortable carry.

“I have AMD, since losing most of my vision, the kitchen started to feel unsafe”

“With hot water, spills, burns and scald risks, I tried to avoid it as much as I could. The Kettle made things feel more manageable again. Add the Liquid Level and  I know exactly what I’m at. I make tea without worrying. It might seem small, but it gives me huge peace of mind.”-Helen, Galway

Frequently Asked Questions:

Vision Impairment Support

Can I fill the Uccello Kettle if I can’t clearly see the spout or water level?

Yes. The Uccello Kettle is designed for ease by touch. When filling you can leave it in the base, tap the button on the lid (it’s on a hinge so it will stay open for you) and fill it with a cup.

The kettle holds 6 cups (average sized cups) so you always know where you stand. Then, simply tap the lid closed.

How does the Kettle and Mat help if I rely on touch more than sight?

Our kettle tilts without needing to lift or judge distance, the Grip Mat helps you position your cup by feel. Simply place the mat up to the kettles front feet. Then feel in towards the smooth centre ring of the mat (there are tactile dots on the outer rings of the mat). Once your cup is in the smooth centre ring, you will always have a safe and steady pour.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to use the mat, we would recommend that you have your cup close to the kettle (handle facing the kettle base, less than an inch away) and this too is a good cup guide for you when pouring from the Uccello Kettle.

How do I know when to stop pouring without causing a spill or burn?

This is where the Liquid Level Indicator comes in. Hook it onto your cup, when the liquid reached the lower prongs the device will beep and vibrate to let you know that your cup is near full.

When the liquid then reaches the highest prong, the device with beep and vibrate more intensely to let you know to stop pouring and that the cup is full.

How do you store the Liquid Level Indicator?

The Liquid Level Indicator has a magnet on the front so it can be stored on any stainless steel appliance (Fridge or microwave). So you don’t have to worry about rummaging in a draw to find it each time.

Can I use all 4 products together for more support?

Absolutely. Many with vision impairment use all of our products together. They work as a system to make pouring and carrying hot drinks safer and easier.

Bundles are available on our website for better value too.

What if I need help or have questions later on?

We offer a 2-year warranty on the Uccello Kettle and Grip Mat, a 1-year warranty on the Liquid Level Indicator and a whopping 88-year warranty on the Muggi.
